The Cygwin DLL consists of a console driver that emulates a Unix-model terminal within the Windows console. Cygwin's default person interface may be the bash shell jogging in the Cygwin console. The DLL also implements pseudo terminal (pty) units. Cygwin ships with a variety of terminal emulators which are based upon them, which includes mintty, rx
